Widows and Women Empowerment Programs

This is a program aimed at empowering women with the skills that can help them sustain themselves and thier children. Women are trained in various skills like Tailoring, Nitting, Crafts, Beads and Neclaces. These beads are made from recycled paper.

In Africa, Women and Children have been the most hit group by the AIDS scourge. Many of them become widows at a very young age and the biggest number of them do not re-marry unlike thier counterparts the men who marry as soon as their wives have died. In Uganda, most of the widows are young mothers with children to look after. Therefore, instead of re-marring they choose to raise their now half-orphaned children single handedly.

Our aim as YOFAFO is to help these women to become self-sustaining and economically self-reliant. We strive to provide them with start up capital that will help them to start small scale initiatives.

Also to note is that Uganda has a very big number of single mothers who were bandoned by their husbands for other wives. These women live very difficult lives with no financial support from anyone to help them in raising their children. YOFAFO is focused on helping out such women.
